What is the International Studies program?

This program examines the many factors shaping the global community, such as economic, monetary, environmental, political, social and demographic forces, and the increasing interdependence of nations.

What will I learn?

You’ll explore the changing realities of our world as you learn about history, geography, culture, economics, the environment, government and languages from a global perspective. You’ll learn how to analyze complex issues that affect populations around the world and study one or more foreign languages. You’ll study a variety of disciplines to examine social, political, religious and cultural constructs around the globe. You’ll also develop skills in research, communication, critical thinking and creative problem-solving as you gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing communities around the world.

What can I do with this course of study?

This program provides a flexible skill set that can be applied in several ways. You’ll be prepared to transfer to a four-year university to seek a bachelor’s degree in this or another field. Today’s job market values employees who can successfully work in a globally interconnected environment. You can pursue a career in fields with an international presence such as banks, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), global corporations, media and technology, or with local or national government.
